Invest and secure the Environmental Bonus
For companies that make green investments now, the German government will double the COVID-19 investment premium from 7 to 14 per cent of the initial cost. It now pays off to focus on environmentally friendly development.
Companies can still apply for the environmental bonus at the Chamber of Commerce until 28 February 2021. This bonus applies to new investments in the greening sector that began on or after 1 August 2020. A wide range of measures are supported, from redesigning a vehicle fleet or refurbishing company buildings to be more environmentally friendly to using solar energy. Another supported measure is climate-neutral recycling of biogenic residual materials and their utilisation, for example as biogas. The investment bonus is allocated as a non-repayable grant. It can be claimed in addition to existing environmental subsidies, such as those from the Climate and Energy Fund or the klimaaktiv mobil financial support programme. In combination, this results in subsidy amounts up to a total of 50% of the investment costs! In addition, the bonus does not affect the ability to write off investments for tax purposes, thus reducing amortisation times significantly. In other words, the prospects for investing in the future are good.
